Accessibility

At Oughtibridge Parish Church, we believe every person is fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God. Our desire is to welcome all people, including those with disabilities, the elderly, parents with young children, and anyone else who may face varied accessibility needs.

Our Building

We, like many other UK churches, face the challenge of working with an old building, but we understand the importance of accessibility and are actively working to improve it. We have recently undergone work to provide permanent level access to the main church building, which now means there is step free access via the side lane between the main church building and Parish Centre.

Car Parking

Unfortunately we do not have a church car park.  All parking is on-street in the surrounding area.  Please make sure to park with consideration to our neighbours.  To reduce walking distance to come into the church building, you are welcome to drive up the side lane (between the church building and the Parish Centre) to drop people off close to the front door.  You can then turn around at the end of the lane before driving to find parking elsewhere.

Seating and Visuals

Inside the church, we have traditional pews, with additional rows of chairs at the back, and we have ensured there are multiple positions available for wheelchair users.

We use large screens at the front during our services to display song lyrics and liturgy for example. However, we recognise that not everyone may be able to see the screens clearly. To assist you, we have tablet devices that mirror the screen content, ensuring everyone can participate fully in our worship. Our Welcome Team will have these available.

Our Welcome Team

Our Welcome Team members can be easily spotted by their lanyards and will usually be found by the main door and around the back of the building. Please ask them at any point if there’s anything they can help with.

The Welcome Team will also be able to provide you with a paper copy of the running order if you would find it helpful to know what is coming up next throughout the service.

After the Sunday service

We offer refreshments in the Parish Centre after services. This centre has been recently refurbished to be accessible. There is ramp access at the rear of the building with a push button automatic door. Within there is an accessible toilet to meet the needs of our visitors requiring extra space.

Our Commitment

We understand that accessibility does not stop at getting you into the building. We are dedicated to making it possible for all to worship with us. We want you to feel you can fully participate as a loved and valued member of our church family.

We are always keen to learn how we can better serve our church family, the wider community, and visitors to our buildings, so your feedback is invaluable. We will strive to create an inclusive and welcoming environment. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch via our Contact page if you have any specific questions, requests, or suggestions – we’d love to hear from you.
