About

Safeguarding

We take safeguarding seriously, as an expression of our love for each other and everyone we have contact with.

Oughtibridge Parish Church is committed to high standards in the safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults.  You can download our Parish Safeguarding Policy using the link below. If you’d like to talk to someone, you’ll find some useful phone numbers on the Promoting a Safer Church poster, linked below.

We’ll do our best to respond to any contact within 24 hours. If your concern is of a more urgent nature, please consider contacting the police or social services directly for advice.

If you have concerns that you wish to report to the Safeguarding Team of the Diocese of Sheffield, you can find their contact details here.  Any concerns related to clergy should be communicated directly to the Archdeacon of Sheffield, whose contact details are here.

Safeguarding Resources

The Church of England’s Parish Safeguarding Handbook offers an introduction to the principles of Safeguarding within the Parish context.

The Church of England offers free, online, basic safeguarding training. Anyone can set up an account and go through the self-guided courses. We recommend that everyone in the church family completes the ‘Basic Awareness’ course, which typically takes less than 90 minutes.

Thirtyone:eight is an independent charity who provide safeguarding resources to churches, individuals and other faith groups. They have a variety of short Help Guides available on their website which cover common topics and offer practical advice.
