Praying

We want to be a praying church, because we believe prayer is a privilege and it’s powerful.  We also want to commit the mission of our church to God, believing that “Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labour in vain” (Psalm 127:1).

So here are some ways you can get involved with prayer at OPC.

Pray Daily

by subscribing to our feed on PrayerMate

If you subscribe to our feed on the PrayerMate app, you’ll be able to see a daily prayer request for OPC.  It’s also a great way to organise the things you wants to pray about, get inspiration and become more consistent in prayer.

Below is a short film introducing PrayerMate.  Click the icon to the right to subscribe to our feed, or search for it in the app by going to: + Add > Church Life > UK Churches.

Pray Weekly

by joining one of our weekly prayer meetings

Gathering every week, all men are welcome to this prayer meeting to pray for our church, over tea and coffee.

  • Every Tuesday
  • In the Chapel Hall
  • 8:00-9:00am

Feel free to come and go during the hour, as needed due to other commitments.

Every week we hold a short gathering to pray specifically for the children and young people in our church family. Everyone is welcome, not just parents.

  • Every Friday (term-time only)
  • In the Chapel (Small Meeting Room)
  • 9:00-9:30am

Cards are provided with the first names of each child and a Bible verse to pray for them. There’s no need to pray aloud if you’d prefer not to.

Pray Monthly

by joining one of our Church Family Prayer meetings

Once a month we meet to sing and pray for our church, community and world.  There’s no need to pray aloud if you’d prefer not to.

  • First Wednesday of the month (term-time only)
  • In the Parish Centre
  • 7:30-8:45pm

Printed copies of the prayer notes will be available on the evening, but if you’d like to download them to help inform your prayers through the month, you can do that by clicking the icon below.

Once a month we also hold an All-Age Church Family Prayer meeting which is designed to be particularly interactive and engaging for our children and young people.  The whole church family is welcome!

  • Last Sunday of the month (term-time only)
  • In the Parish Centre
  • 1:00-1:45pm

Join us after the morning service to eat your packed lunch in the Parish Centre, then stay on for a short prayer meeting.
