Journey

When was the last time you went on a long journey? What was it like?

Mary and Joseph’s journey was long, full of difficulty and they had to trust God to get them through it.

In the Bible it tells us of when Jesus promised his friends and followers that he would be “with them always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:20). The same applies to everyone today who follows Jesus: he is with us all through life’s journey, no matter what happens, and we can trust him.

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to their own town to register.

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.

Luke 2:1–5

Today's Craft

Today’s craft is a journey stick. Why not go on a nature walk? What different things can you find? Remember God created all these beautiful and different items of nature and he is with us.

Items needed: Stick, nature bits, glue, string

1. Go for a walk outside. It could be in the park or woods or somewhere else near your home. Take a bag for keeping your nature items in

2. Look for a good, solid stick and then other bits like leaves, feathers, flowers, perhaps pine cones. Be careful not to pick anything without grown up supervision

3. When you get home tie or glue your nature items to your stick so you have a story of your journey
